All that is joy will not last, all that is joyous shall die, to try and grasp joy is the same as grasping at water, dying of thirst, we snatch it up with our shriveled hands, drinking only a small portion as the rest flows out, slips away from between our fingertips and falls to the dusts.
With each joy comes countless pains, each tearing at our shining bauble until it is as dull and dark as stone.. as earth. Their is no pleasure without pain... and pain is what we feel the most.. for however much we may fool ourselves into thinking that all will be well in the end.. when in truth, by living way we do... or rather living the way we are forced.. we are only bringing ourselves closer to our ends, and having nothing to show for it.
Where life is normally unfulfilling and miserable, Goth makes such unfortunate side effects of "breathing" a little more bearable and at the same time allows the TRUE goth to be artitistic in the same. Goth is the celebration of the darker aspects of the human mind. It is the harnessing of emotion and misery and the redirection of both to something more artful and more beautiful. Goths can be found in every religion, or none at all. Goth is totally independant of racial, ethnic, or religious ties. Although most people associate a special dress code with Goth, this is not always so. A goth is one who is fascinated and naturally more attune with the darker sides of his or her nature. The resultant mind is often self hating, and troubled, delighting in dark and ghostly images, loving the night and the chill of autumn... despising the pain they feel, yet strangely enough loving it.
Often those who choose the Gothic Path are downtrodden and despised... more often than not for no
fault of their own. When we have nothing, we still have our pains, and they can be turned to something
useful... which is where goth comes in. The lifestyle is not a chosen one, it chooses you. Some people are
naturally more inclined to find beauty and interest in things that most "normal" people find aversion.
In my opinion, normality, if it even exists, is vastly overrated... and except by killing individuality completely,
can never be achieved.
Below I have included some selected gothic and vampire links. Memory and dream is a particularily well
done one, I suggest that first, for artwork at least.
